Hi, my name is Baby Butter, and I am a 14 year old female, Orange Tabby. I hear that I should've been a boy (typical for us orangees), so I'm your not-so-typical unicorn! I'm still living with my Mama who gave birth to me (Mama Mischief). I love to love on people, come up and say hi (shyly), and then lean up against you and hang out for a bit. You can see it in my eyes, I've got nothing but love for ya!
I've been with my (human) Mom since I was born in Jan 2012, and she is trying to help rai$e fund$ for my upcoming $urgery at Brookhurst Animal Medical (714) -776 -7387, happening on Tues, May 26th, to amputate my left arm, due to a complicated mass that has been growing since Fall 2025. I was first diagnosed with a few "Stromal cells, with mild mixed inflammation", with an interpretation in the vet's words as, "Spindle cell proliferation with atypia, with concern for a Spindle Cell Tumor." Given two options, of 1) either removing most of the mass (leaving some of it behind) with chances of it growing back, or 2) removing the limb with getting complete margins where the mass will not grow back... we have chosen option #2. I will learn to live with three good limbs! I know I can do it!
With much fuss over me, my Mom has learned that I have a slightly enlarged heart (I guess it comes with being the unicorn I am!), and also now on a renal diet for my kidney disease... but you wouldn't know it, because I keep trying to live a normal life. I live with Mom, who's taking care of her Mom, too, as a caregiver, as well as trying to make ends meet on a substitute teacher salary. She was a full-time credentialed educator, who adjusted her life to care for her mom at this time, which is why we are asking for assistance for me.
We learned about some organizations that are willing to help with emergency surgeries, etc. and have received word that two particular organizations are pledging on the day of surgery! Thank you Orange County Animal Allies ($500), and Saddleback Valley Humane Society ($450)! However, we are still seeking help, as the bills will come to an estimated total of $7,600.
The breakdown is: Bloodwork and Xrays ~ $900 ; Cardiology Consult ~ $900, and Amputation Surgery ~ $5,800.
We were not aware of pet insurance prior to this, which would've covered all of this. If anyone can learn from this mishap, great! We sure did! In the meantime, we are still faced with this urgent need, as this mass seems to be growing more quickly. I know that I can still have quality of life, and am not done yet! If anyone out there would be so kind to help, we'd be so grateful! And by help, we mean either financially, prayers, or simply spreading the word. God Bless!
