On May 19, 2021 Butch started having trouble catching a breath of air while in isolation at home as he had tested positive for COVID-19. Janet called the ambulance to come and check him out as she was still in isolation at that time as well. His oxygen was low so they decided to take him into the hospital where he stayed for 2 nights. Things continued to get worse. 

On Friday May 21, 2021 he was air lifted to Red Deer. Where they continued to monitor him. 

On Sunday May 23, 2021 he was moved over to ICU and put into a medically induced coma. Mom andI drove up to Red Deer Sunday afternoon and wentto the hospital to get an update as to where he’s at. He is on a medication that will paralyze the body, letting all the Machines and medication do the work for him as his lungs are in very very bad shape. 

May 24, 2021 Mom and I went to the hospital and got to be with dad in his room. The doctor came in to give us an update. At 1 AM his oxygen dropped again. They flipped him over onto his stomach hoping this would open his airways. They were able to get him stable. However they did mention to mom and I he is on all the machines and medication that he can possibly be on it is just a matter of his body healing. It’s up to Butch now. 

I know the last thing my dad said before he went into a coma and it has been bothering me ever since... So this is why I started this GoFund me. He is so worried about getting back to work, his trucks, my mom... I know I can’t do much myself as they are usually the ones I run too. He has never asked for help his whole life he is a hard working guy and the last thing I want him and my mom to worry about is working. The doctor did say he would have a long road to recovery once he is out.  So if we could cover his shop rent, a bill payment anything would help out.

I know we have one amazing community and thank you all so much for the calls, texts and messages. I make sure to read them all to him.

UPDATE: May 24th mom and I spent the day with dad and ICU. Since being on his stomach they have seen some improvement not much but some. They have decided to leave him on his tummy for the night and will turn him back over onto his back at 9am tomorrow. We continue to pray and have hope!
