After a week of being sick, Butchie was rushed into emergency surgery for an intestinal obstruction. During surgery, his intestine ruptured, causing him to go septic. In that moment, we had to decide if we wanted to attempt a difficult procedure or say goodbye to him on the operating table.
Butch made it through surgery, but he is not out of the woods. He is currently in critical recovery.
This comes just weeks after our other dog, Josie, went through her own emergency surgery, where she was diagnosed with a rare cancer (amyloid-producing ameloblastoma).
Now, Butchie’s care has grown to over $15,000 and continues to rise with ICU monitoring, medications, and ongoing treatment.
Butchie is more than a dog, he is part of our family. He is gentle, loving, and amazing with kids. We are doing everything we can to get him home.
