Help Busy Beaks Build a Better Future for Rescued Birds
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Alexandra Goode, the founder of Busy Beaks Bird Rescue along with Tina Massiah my Co-Founder. I’m reaching out with a heartfelt plea to support the birds that rely on us for a second chance at life.
Since 2020, we’ve been opening our doors to parrots and other companion birds in need – from the neglected and abandoned, to those with complex medical needs or those loved pets that can no longer be cared for.
Every single bird matters to us. Every feather, every chirp, every broken wing or scared soul deserves love, safety, and healing.
We’ve done everything we can to provide that — often relying on second-hand materials, temporary housing, and donations to keep things going. Since October alone when we Open arms Parrot Rescue and Busy Beaks Box merged to form Busy Beaks Bird Rescue, we’ve rescued and rehomed over 250 birds, giving them not just shelter, but a future of love, care and compassion.
We’ve outgrown our current setup. Our flock is growing, and so are their needs. We urgently need your help to build a safe, functional, and professional aviary space – one that reflects the standard of care these birds deserve giving them daily access to UV Light, exercise, fresh air and enrichment.
What We Need:
We are fundraising to build a new aviary base and install three aviary pods to safely house, rotate, and rehabilitate birds in our care. This could aid in physio is a secure are to rebuild muscle strength, provide UV light to those in need of it.
We’re also in desperate need of vital hospital equipment like incubators and nebulisers for our sickest birds along with medical equipment to support our sick and injured birds.
Here’s what your support will help us fund:
• Building an Aviary base to include Hardcore, Sand, Timber and Slabs – £632.48
• Aviary Pod 1 8ft x 6ft– £813.60 (To house Macaws & Cockatoos)
• Aviary Pod 2 6ft x 6ft – £728.40 (To House Greys, Amazons)
• Aviary Pod 3 3ft x 6ft – Already purchased and ready to build (To house smaller birds such as quakers & conures)
• Corrugated Roofing for pods to provide shade and shelter – £380.00
• 2 x Brinsea TLC 40 Brooder / Recovery Units – To assist with heat and humidity for those in need of hospitalisation £819.99 each
• 2 x Nebulisers –To provide treatment for the birds with respiratory issues due to smokers, dander and more £50.00 each
Every penny raised will go directly to these essentials and progress of the build will be regularly documented.
As a Co-Director of this rescue, I’m currently trying to sell my own aviary to contribute towards the cost — that’s how much this means to me. But it’s not enough. We need our community now more than ever.
We’re also currently supporting many birds on long-term medication such as Injection Therapy, Inhalers and much more and our resources are being stretched to the limit. Without this new setup, we risk not being able to continue helping at the same level we have – and that’s not something I can accept.
How You Can Help:
• Donate anything you can — every pound makes a difference
• Share our story with bird lovers, family, friends and animal advocates far and wide
• Follow our journey on the Busy Beaks Box Facebook page
You can be part of something life-changing for the birds that come into our care.
Help us give these beautiful birds the safety, care, and love they deserve.
From the bottom of my heart – thank you.
