Help Bury My Sister Who Passed from Cancer

Donation protected
For 8 Months, my sister Rita fought a long, hard battle with Lung Cancer. She was only 64 years young.

Myself and my niece were at her side taking care of her. From changing her catheter bag, colostomy bag, giving her important meds… We were there for her every step of the way.

She lost her fight at 1 AM this morning, August 13th, 2023.

My sister, Rita, was a nurse. She was a natural-born caretaker. If there was an emergency, she was the first one to rush to her patients’ aid. She worked during COVID lockdowns, gowning up to protect herself, coworkers and patients.

She caught COVID 5 times. On December 6th, 2022, she found out she was diagnosed with cancer. The same day she was terminated from her job. Unable to work, things only went downhill from there.

She had 2 brain surgeries, as the cancer spread to her brain on both occasions. Her colon perforated after taking cancer-killing medication. The cancer spread everywhere. She was bleeding internally. Her body had taken a severe, ruthless, brutal beating. She couldn’t fight any longer.

I nor my niece have enough funds to give her the proper funeral and burial that she wanted. Those were her last wishes. She deserves to have those wishes fulfilled so that I and my niece know she will be laid to rest peacefully.

Rita will always be remembered as a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. How she fell in love with Austin Butler when he played the lead role as Elvis. A fan of Nick Jonas and The Weeknd. Always singing along to her favorite pop songs. Lover of dogs, the color purple, and sweets.

It would mean the world to myself and my niece knowing that my sister, Rita, had a proper funeral and burial. The nurse’s final wishes.
