My name is Greg Piekarski. After a 20 year struggle with Parkinson's disease, and other ailments, my father J Robert passed away on the evening of August 31. My brother Eric, who ails from MS, and I, a single father of 2, are attempting to help give him the burial he deserves and ensure my mother can remedy the mountain of healthcare costs that have amassed and remain in her home.
A loving husband, brother, father of 3, grandfather of 2, was a selfless man who always gave of himself and never gave up. Whether being a volunteer fireman, an MP in the 82nd Airbourne during the Korean War, or a Coast Gaurd Reserves member, he always did what was needed, and did more when it came to his family.
He became disabled in 1980 when he nearly lost his life in a motorcycle accident but even that couldn't stop him. After being diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2001, he still remained strong in his faith and helping ways, fixing family vehicles and doing home repairs.
After losing one of his children to CTE 13 years ago he never wavered, making sure his family still found joy. Even when Linda, his wife, of 50+ yrs, was forced to retire, he didn't let their struggles be known. He continued spoiling his grandchildren with love and affection, taking them on vacations and helping to support their education.
We are praying for help so that we can place him to rest and allow my mother to grieve properly without worry of losing her home.
