My name is Ruby Watson. I am from Jackson, Mississippi. I am the mother of Calvin Rod Watson II and the grandmother of Calvin M. Watson III. The money raised from Calvin Watson III’s Memorial Fund will go towards covering his funeral and burial expenses. All proceeds will go directly to my son, Calvin Rod Watson II and paid to Jackson Memorial Funeral Services. Other team organizers who have contributed much time and effort in setting up this campaign include Keturah Gray, (my granddaughter and cousin of Calvin Watson III) and Kerri Watson Harrion, (my daughter and aunt to Calvin Watson III.)The following tragic details describing the passing of our beloved Calvin M. Watson III are told from his father, Calvin Rod Watson II’s viewpoint.
On Friday, October 9, 2020, my life shattered as I learned of the unexpected passing of my dear son, Calvin Watson III.
This unforgettable day has changed my life forever. During my dialysis treatment, I received a phone call that no parent wants to get. I answered the telephone at 11:30 am. The frantic voice on the other end was that of my dear son’s mother. She said that our son had collapsed as he prepared for his shift at a local nursing home in Houston, Texas. She rushed over to perform CPR. EMTs arrived within minutes to transport him to the nearest hospital. They were able to get a very faint pulse. Shortly upon arrival at the hospital, Calvin passed.
This definitely caught us by surprise. I’d never imagine that I’d be making funeral arrangements for my healthy 26 year old son.
Calvin Watson III best known to family as CiCi was a gentle giant to say the least. He was kind hearted, courageous, charismatic, humble, intelligent and loved bringing laughter and joy to all he encountered. He never met a stranger and kept his trust in God. His occupation of 2 years as a frontline worker at a nursing home is evidence of him fulfilling his life’s divine purpose of putting the needs and well being of others before himself. He will forever be missed but never forgotten.
Please help us, give our son the proper burial he deserves by sharing this post and donating to this fund. ~Calvin Rod Watson II
