My grandfather Anthony Bermel was born July 8, 1918 in Randolph, Nebraska.  He grew up during the hardest times in our country. As he grew up he realized not only how much he loved his country but what an honor it would be to serve. He chose to serve our great country in the Air Corps because the Airforce wasn't established until 1948. He became a flight engineer on a B29 Bomber flying several missions. Places included Burma, North Africa, and China. To him nothing was more important than serving his country and the love of his family. My grandfather was an exceptional man who worked hard his whole life. I loved listening to his stories about his service and what flying such a large aircraft was like. In 2016 he had the chance to do an Honor Flight on a B29 Bomber but due to health issues could not get in it. He was still so proud to see the plane and touch it. 

My grandfather was dropped off at my house by my mother. I know it is not nice to speak ill of others but she stole all of his money and myself and my wife took care of him and all of his needs until his death. We took him to Washington D.C. to see the wall  Now we don't have the money to bury him. We are in need of $6,000 which will include his cremantion, transportation back to Napa Valley, CA to be buried next his wife. The funds are needed ASAP. My wife Sally Carter will be in charge of everything. We have both been working as hard as we can to raise enough money to get him home where he belongs. We are asking for help from fellow Veterans and anyone else who wants to help us get him back home. He passed away March 6th and it is breaking my heart everyday he is not home.
