My name is Chelsy MacMillan, from Niagara Falls, Ontario. I designed Tripod One — a compact motorized three-wheel trike: a tall triangular stool seat over a compact Y-shaped tripod frame (one front wheel, two rear), with handlebars right in front of the rider and no floorboard.
It is compact, seated, and made to fold for storage — a premium seated trike crossed with a rolling stool.
This is a concept at the pre-prototype stage. No physical prototype has been built, tested, or certified yet — all specs below are targets, not tested results:
- Footprint 685 x 590 mm, about 19 kg target
- 36V 350W front hub motor, governed to 20 km/h
- Standard 360Wh battery, about 25-30 km target range; long-range 720Wh option, about 50-60 km
- Speed-sensitive steering limiter designed for stability
The goal is $200,000 CAD for the full development:
- Mechanical engineering and design verification: $35,000
- Custom frame, folding mechanism, and steering assembly: $25,000
- Motor, electronics, controls, and software: $20,000
- Battery development and safety evaluation: $20,000
- Prototype construction and revisions: $30,000
- Stability, braking, and durability testing: $20,000
- Regulatory review and certification preparation: $20,000
- Contingency: $30,000
