Help Build Tents for Displaced Families in Gaza

Hello everyone,

We are Palestine@MIT, group of students dedicated to promoting the Palestinian culture and raising awareness about Palestine at MIT.

With ongoing genocide and relentless, constant and indiscriminate bombing, particularly in the northern areas of the Gaza Strip, over 2 million Palestinians have been forcibly displaced to the south, with Rafah bearing the brunt. The Municipality of Rafah is at the forefront of efforts to shelter and provide resources for these displaced families. The Municipality is in the process of establishing a refugee camp in Al-Sawafi, a government-owned area between Rafah and Khan Yunis.

The plan entails the construction of 500 tents to accommodate 500 displaced families, with an average family size of 6 members. While the Municipality has secured the necessary materials for the tents and commenced construction, a critical need for funding remains to build bathrooms to cater to the needs of the 3000 individuals residing in the camp. Due to the prevailing blockade and siege, the construction cost for each bathroom has escalated to $650, and the target is to build 50 bathrooms. The amount raised will be used to buy the material needed to construct bathrooms which is currently available in the Gaza Strip.

1for3, a registered non-profit in Massachusetts, is the fiscal sponsor and the amount raised will be deposited in th1for3 bank account til we transfer them safely to Gaza. 1for3 focuses on addressing the crucial challenges faced by Palestinian refugees in the intersection of water, food, health, and education, exacerbated by the conditions of living under occupation.
