Help Open SunCoast Market Co-op: A Community-Owned Grocery Store in Imperial Beach
The Need
Imperial Beach, a vibrant and diverse community, faces limited access to fresh, affordable, and locally sourced food. With over 42 fast food, convenience, and liquor stores within a few miles, residents need more options for healthy groceries.
Our Vision
We're building SunCoast Market Co-op, a full-service, community-owned grocery store at 600 Palm Avenue in the Silver Strand Plaza. Our mission is to provide healthy, natural, and locally sourced products at affordable prices, support the local economy, offer food education, and promote environmentally sustainable practices.
Funding Goal: $250,000
To help bring this vision to life, we're seeking $250,000 to:
• Complete store renovations and installations
• Stock initial inventory from local producers
• Hire and train local staff
• Launch community outreach and education programs
Why Crowdfunding?
SunCoast is a grassroots initiative, built by and for the community. By contributing, you're not just making a donation; you're becoming part of a movement that enhances food access, supports local farmers, and strengthens our local economy.
Our Progress

Join the Movement
Be a part of transforming Imperial Beach's food landscape. SunCoast Market Co-op will be the first community-owned/governed cooperative grocery store in San Diego’s South County region and the first food co-op in the U.S. to open in a majority Hispanic/Latino community.
Your support brings us closer to opening doors in late Summer 2025 and creating a lasting impact on our community's health and well-being.
