If you know me personally, you know that helping others has always been part of who I am.

Throughout my life, I've tried to open doors whenever I could. Whether it was encouraging an artist, supporting a filmmaker, helping actors, connecting people, volunteering my time, or simply believing in someone before they believed in themselves, I've always believed that when we lift each other up, amazing things happen.

I've always believed that kindness has a way of coming full circle.

Today, for the first time, I'm asking for that kindness to come back to me.

Not for myself alone, but for every filmmaker, actor, volunteer, student, audience member, and future artist whose life may be touched by the Open World Toronto Film Festival.

Eleven years ago, I started the Open World Toronto Film Festival (OWTFF) with one simple dream: to create a welcoming space where independent filmmakers and artists from all backgrounds could share their stories, connect with one another, and feel celebrated.

That dream has grown into an international festival that has proudly supported independent cinema and diverse voices for over a decade.

Behind every screening, every panel discussion, every award, every standing ovation, and every smile are countless volunteer hours, months of planning, and a belief that independent artists deserve opportunities to shine.

For eleven years, I have poured my heart into this festival because I believe stories bring people together and can change lives.

Today, I'm inviting you to become part of that story.

This isn't about rescuing a festival.

It's about helping an established festival reach its greatest potential.
