Help build our life long dream

I hope everyone is having a positive time during the holidays and staying healthy more importantly during this chaos. My name is Marquez Rhodes the younger son of Coach Dan Rhodes. In recent years my father has dedicated all of his time to training and coaching athletes of all ages from young to old. On February 20th I watched my worst nightmare almost come true right in front of my eyes. Around 8pm at the boxing gym my dad started to have a stroke. He was rushed to the Brookhaven hospital immediately where he unfortunately fell and the stroke got worse. He was then rushed to Stony Brook hospital to undergo emergency surgery. Thankfully he’s still here, however he lost mostly if not all of his left side. I haven’t seen my father and been able to give him a hug since March 13th.




I am here asking for any kind of help to make our life long dream come true. Ever since I was little I’ve always wanted my dad to build and race his very rare 1993 GMC Typhoon. However with the cards life has dealt us it never was possible and the truck has been sitting as an empty shell for almost 15 years. Now that he had a stroke he will never behind the wheel of any vehicle anymore so now the responsibility is in my hands. Its been something I’ve wanted to do just as much as him and I’m putting my boxing career and everything else on hold to build this truck and surprise him with him by the end of the summer. I know everyone has had their difficulties this year but anything would help. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope everyone stays safe and healthy so we can all get through this.
