Hi, I’m Innocent Oshioagbhe.
I was born and raised in Edo State, Nigeria, where I fell in love with gymnastics. But growing up, I didn’t have access to proper equipment or safe places to train—just welded iron bars and worn-out wrestling mats.
Everything changed when I had the chance to attend training camps abroad. For the first time, I trained with real equipment, experienced coaches, and mentorship. That opportunity changed the course of my life. I went on to represent Nigeria, and later Canada, in artistic gymnastics and power tumbling at the international level.
Now, living in Canada, I’m giving back to the place where it all began.
Together with my wife and a small but passionate team, I founded the Oshioagbhe Springboard Gymnastics Organization (Springboard for Africa)—a nonprofit based in Nigeria. Our mission is to create real access to movement, mentorship, and opportunity for children and communities through the power of gymnastics.
We’re working to build Nigeria’s first international-standard gymnastics facility on 8 acres of secured land in Edo State. But this isn’t just about building a gym—it’s about creating space for grassroots programs, physical literacy, and lasting community development.
Why This Project Matters
At the heart of this project is one simple belief: every child deserves a chance.
In many parts of the world, kids grow up with easy access to parks, community centres, and safe spaces to move and play. But in the community where we’re building, there are no parks nearby—no recreation centres, no programs. Spaces like these are incredibly rare, and for most children, completely out of reach.
No child should miss out on the chance to grow, learn, and feel a sense of belonging simply because of where they were born. We’re working to change that by creating real access from the ground up.
How Funds Will Be Used
Donations made through this GoFundMe will be received personally by me and then 100% transferred to Springboard for Africa’s official nonprofit account in Nigeria to support the first phase of our project.
This includes not only laying the foundation for the facility, but also launching early-impact community initiatives that can serve families while the gym is still under development.
Your support will help fund:
Land preparation and infrastructure for the gym facility
Professional-grade gymnastics equipment
A borehole water system with drinking stations to provide clean, reliable water to families near the future facility site.
A playground and community water park to give children a safe, fun, and active place to play while the facility construction is underway
100% of donated funds go directly toward these projects. Our team is proudly volunteering their time and efforts to manage all administrative work, and we remain committed to full transparency every step of the way.
