We are a small group of Geshe Dorji Damdul’s students who recently visited Drepung Loseling Monastic University in South India for a study retreat on the topics of Wisdom and Compassion. During the visit, we were inspired to know there is a large construction project happening from the Tsangpa Khamtsen, from which our wonderful teacher has come from. The priority at this stage is to finish building 56 rooms as soon as possible, estimated to cost ~$150,000. The entire construction will cost upwards of 1 million USD. With only about 33% of funds having been raised, there is a huge shortfall, to which we have become inspired to help fundraise a humble goal of $10,000.
All proceeds will go straight to Tsangpa Khangtsen for their building projects, which will help a current need for housing for monks to study for many years. One reason I was especially inspired to become a part of this fundraising campaign was one Tibetan representative stated, could you imagine the merit of having funded just five bricks in Nalanda University, centuries ago? They would still be making merits to this very day. In the same way, may we come together to create this new housing block for future monks and future teachers, and may the merits be multiplied in the coming decades and centuries, for the benefit of all sentient beings to be quickly enlightened~
