UPDATE:
WBOY TV interviewed Michael and Lori concerning his needs and the bridge. The link is here:
Thank you so much to everyone who has donated, shared, and prayed. We are so very appreciative!
Hello,
My name is Kaye Barnett. I am here to raise funds to help two deserving people get a much-needed bridge that will enable them to access their home by vehicle. Michael and Lori Creighton live in Alum Bridge, WV. The only access to their house is a 2.5 foot wide wooden bridge. Michael, a Navy veteran who served his country and fought in 2 wars, is in dire need of this bridge.
Michael has serious medical needs. He suffered a mini stroke a few months ago, and the paramedics could not fit a gurney across the walking bridge to access him. The paramedics walked across the bridge and waited until Michael was able to walk with help. They then walked him across the bridge to the ambulance.
The house is in serious need of repairs, and those cannot be made because the contractors cannot access the house by vehicle. They have all stated that the equipment necessary is too heavy to carry across a 300-foot-long walking bridge. The roof needs repair, the floor is sinking, and the ceiling is caving. But those are not the most serious issues at hand. The serious issue is Michael's health.
Michael has nerve damage from the military. His legs will suddenly go out, and he becomes paralyzed, sometimes only for a few minutes, and sometimes for hours. His doctors say he cannot be left alone in his condition.
Lori is frightened that something serious may happen to him, and there will be no way to transport him across that bridge. Should Michael have a serious stroke, which is very possible, he would not be able to walk. Paramedics would not be able to transport him. A wheelchair is too wide for the bridge.
This man is a veteran who deserves some human kindness. A driving bridge would cost between $20K and $25K. There is no way that Michael and Lori can afford it on their own. Michael is completely unable to work and must have a caregiver. They do not have the funds to hire someone, so Lori is the caregiver. Lori prays daily for God's intervention, for Him to solve their predicament. You very well could be that solution, that saving grace. Michael and Lori do not want to have to leave their home. It would be tremendously stressful for a veteran with PTSD and other factors relating, to move. His doctor has advised against disrupting his home life. Please give what you can, $1, $5, etc. Even the smallest donations add up.
20,000 $1.00 donations = $20K;
4,000 $5.00 donations = $20K;
2,000 $10.00 donations = $20K;
1,000 $20.00 donations = $20K
400 $50.00 donations = $20K
200 $100 donations = $20K
I thank you for your help! God bless you!
If you can't donate, please share. Prayers are a welcome gift as well.
