”We’re a house built on dyslexia.” That’s how I love to describe my family. I have a fantastic husband who happens to be dyslexic, and he is a great inspiration to other dyslexics. Our son was diagnosed with dyslexia this past year, and we are lucky to have a solid foundation to help him.
I started Giving Petals to help other dyslexic families build solid learning foundations for their children. Supporting low-income families who struggle to afford the proper testing and tutoring to help their children succeed academically. We are not only bringing opportunities to people with dyslexia but also hope to build awareness about the disability that has been unrecognized in our school systems for too long. I’m asking for everyone’s help with building a solid foundation for young dyslexics in the hope that one day they also will have a house built on dyslexia.
Last year was an exciting year. We were able to award our first set of scholarships. We appreciate everyone who was able to contribute to our success. We are hoping to do more this year with our donations. If Giving Petals can collect at least $7k, we can offer assistance to 2 individuals for a whole year. That’s giving the student the one-on-one learning experience with a specialist that will help with developing their reading & writing skills. Of course, we would love to collect more, and the more we receive, the more we’re able to give back.
