Welcome to Kaylee's Island of Misfit Dogs Sanctuary and Rescue — a heart-led mission born from love, grief, and the unwavering belief that every life matters.
We are a homegrown rescue based in Clarksville, TN, created in honor of my beloved daughter, Kaylee Lane. Her kind and compassionate spirit lives on in every dog we save. One of those souls was Ollie — my heart dog, my greatest teacher.
Ollie was rescued from a horrific dog fighting operation. He weighed just 28 pounds. His teeth had been ground down. He had scars not just on his body, but deep within his spirit. But when our eyes met for the first time, something beautiful happened. I didn’t just see a broken dog. I saw a soul desperate for love. He howled a sweet, goofy "baawooo" every time he saw me, slept by my side every night, and showed more forgiveness than I thought possible. Ollie taught me that healing is possible, even from the deepest wounds.
Ollie's legacy is the very heartbeat of this rescue. We take in the forgotten, the broken, the old, the sick — the misfits. We don’t turn them away. We work 16+ hour days feeding, medicating, cleaning, playing, and loving each one. We provide free parvo treatment with a 92% survival rate, vet transport, emergency care, and supplies to families in crisis. We do all this from our own home.
Our Dream? To build a dedicated facility where healing begins. A sanctuary with enough room for us to expand our mission and help more dogs and people in our community. With your help, we will create:
• A 50-run kennel building with a medical and quarantine wing
• A meet-and-greet adoption room filled with hope
• A doggy spa for comfort and hygiene
• A quiet space for grieving and healing
• A community education and outreach center
We are raising $300,000 to secure land, build the first phases of the facility, and establish infrastructure that will save lives for years to come.
Milestones:
• $50,000 — Land down payment
• $100,000 — Site prep, fencing, and utilities
• $150,000 — Quarantine and medical wing
• $200,000 — Partial kennel structure (25 runs)
• $250,000 — Full 50-run kennel and adoption center
• $300,000 — mobile rescue van
Every dollar matters. Every share helps. Every act of kindness brings us closer to a forever safe space for dogs like Ollie.
Thank you for believing in the misfits.
