About IRLrisk
Every day, people across Canada interact with strangers through online platforms, marketplaces, informal work, social media, and community networks.
Most interactions are safe. But when they are not, the consequences can be serious.
IRLRisk is being developed as a Canadian-built safety-awareness tool that helps people check basic contact information, such as a phone number or email address, for community-reported risk signals before deciding whether to engage or meet.
The goal is not to predict behaviour or guarantee safety. The goal is to give people one more tool to support informed decision-making.
We are especially mindful of the safety concerns affecting women, gender-diverse individuals, and Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people across Canada. IRLRisk does not claim to represent Indigenous communities or solve systemic violence. But we believe practical, privacy-conscious safety tools can play a role in a broader ecosystem of awareness, prevention, and care.
Funds raised will support:
* Community consultation
* Privacy and ethics review
* Canadian hosting infrastructure
* Platform development
* Safety research and evaluation
* Free or subsidized community access
IRLRisk is not a law-enforcement tool, government program, credit reporting agency, tenant-screening service, employment-screening service, or background-check platform. It is a personal safety-awareness initiative built around privacy, transparency, and responsible use.
Your support will help us build this carefully, responsibly and in Canada.
