This isn't the story of how I lost my son. It's the story of how his life inspired a mission to help other families heal.

Nine years ago, many of you met me during the darkest days of my life. Some of you may remember following the Justice for Cameron Facebook page. Millions watched, prayed, and hoped alongside me as my son, Cameron Anthony Blake, fought for his life. When Cameron passed away, it felt like my world had ended. What many people didn't see was everything that came afterward. I grew up in Maryland's foster care system after being removed from my home as a child. I spent years trying to heal from trauma that began long before Cameron was born. After losing him, life didn't suddenly become easier. I continued to face challenges that tested every part of me.

More recently, I survived a violent domestic assault that nearly cost me my life. Just one week later, overwhelmed by years of grief and trauma, I attempted to take my own life. I spent a week receiving psychiatric care at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Getting help saved my life. Therapy, medication, my faith, and the love of my children have helped me find hope again. Today, I'm not asking you to rescue me. I'm asking you to help me build something bigger than myself. In honor of Cameron, I created Cameron's Haven, a nonprofit dedicated to breaking cycles of instability by providing safe housing, trauma-informed support, and opportunities for healing and growth for individuals and families affected by foster care and trauma. Cameron's Haven exists because I know what it feels like to lose stability and to wonder if anyone sees your pain. No child should have to grow up believing they're alone. No parent should have to choose between survival and healing. No family should have to reach the point of crisis before help becomes available. For the past several months, I've been working every day to turn this vision into reality. Cameron's Haven is no longer just an idea—it is becoming a real organization.

Now I need help taking the next steps. Funds raised through this campaign will help me legally incorporate Cameron's Haven, obtain federal nonprofit status, cover legal, accounting, insurance, and administrative startup costs, build a professional website and outreach materials, recruit and train a strong founding board, maintain basic personal stability and reliable transportation, and continue building the foundation that will allow Cameron's Haven to serve families for years to come. I believe the strongest leaders are willing to be honest. The truth is that I cannot build this alone. Asking for help has never been easy for me, but every meaningful movement begins with a community that chooses to believe in it. One day, I hope Cameron's Haven will provide safe, healing-centered housing where families can stabilize, rebuild, and create brighter futures together. This campaign isn't only about helping me. It's about honoring Cameron's life with something that will continue changing lives long after mine.
