BrewTeaFull Cafe was created with a big dream in mind! Hi, my name is Sydney, owner of BTFC. As a military spouse, I know firsthand how often moving comes with the territory. But with my background as a special educator, I wanted to find a creative way to combine my two passions—supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities and creating a welcoming coffee shop environment. Coffee shops have always brought me joy: the atmosphere, the food, the drinks, and the chance to socialize, work, or relax. That’s when my light bulb moment happened, and the dream of opening a coffee shop that employs adults with intellectual disabilities was born. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since!
After settling into a new city, I realized that being “military mobile” could actually be an opportunity. I started with a coffee trailer, which allowed me to gain hands-on experience and save for my ultimate goal: a brick-and-mortar shop, providing more employment opportunities and better supporting my mission of inclusivity.
BrewTeaFull Cafe began in a bright teal trailer in the Bossier/Shreveport area, though I continued to work hard and seek opportunities to expand. In 2025, we were blessed to open two locations on Barksdale’s Air Force Base serving our wonderful military community. After almost another year of working hard to grow the business, I eventually, I found the perfect coffee truck to help our inclusive mission grow even more into the Shreveport/Bossier community.
After almost a year, I was able to add the adjoining space to the BUFF's Cafe to my contract, creating an indoor play area for our Barksdale community! I’m excited to take the next step by creating a dedicated children’s play area right next to our coffee shop. The base doesn’t have any indoor spaces where kids can play, and I am working to change that. The new adjoining room needs flooring, paint, furniture, equipment, seating, and safety measures to make it a safe and welcoming space for families. This play area will promote community, giving families a place to connect and children a place to have fun, all while supporting the young adults with intellectual disabilities who work at BTFC. Please consider supporting this project—your help will make a real difference for our community!
For those of you who are unfamiliar with me, my mission, or my small business.... I currently do not collect a paycheck. I have designed this small business as a community mission of inclusion, where proceeds support employment opportunities for young adults with diverse abilities. We (my husband and I) are pouring love, sweat, and finances into creating a space for many to enjoy, but we need your help with the last big piece of play equipment to really make this special! For the most part, I have been able to take care of everything else...however, the last special piece (that I really believe both children and families would appreciate) is expensive with shipping and installation. This is where I would love to have as much support as possible to help finalize this space.
For those of you who have spoken to me about this project already, you know that I've been chomping at the bit to get started, and now that I have the green light, I'm sprinting to complete this as quickly as possible. Asking for help is hard. Asking for money is harder (for me at least). Any donation towards this special piece is helpful, and I appreciate your consideration. I am happy to talk through and answer any questions that you may have regarding this community project/ space.
Thank you so much for your consideration, and I can't wait to open BrewTeaFull Cafe and Play soon!
