Education is the most powerful tool we have to break the cycle of poverty and open doors to a better future. But for thousands of children in South African townships, access to a safe, modern school and quality literacy support is still an uphill battle.

I am raising funds for Mellon Educate, an incredible international charity that is changing lives by building schools, fostering literacy, and creating opportunities for children who need it most.

Why This Matters

For over 20 years, Mellon Educate has been on the ground in South Africa, working hand-in-hand with disadvantaged communities. Their mission is simple but life-changing: to ensure that children have the environment and the tools they need to read, learn, and succeed.

Since 2013, they have:

Built or renovated 36 schools.

Improved the lives of over 65,000 children.

Launched dedicated Literacy Hubs to help children learn to read for meaning, providing them with the confidence to stay in school and thrive.

Beyond the buildings, they are also creating employment opportunities for local school-leavers, training them as community-based literacy tutors. They aren't just building classrooms; they are building futures.

Our Goal

My goal is to raise 5,000 euros to support the travel costs to ongoing work of Mellon Educate. Whether you can spare the cost of accommodation or a larger donation, every cent makes a tangible difference in a child’s life.
