Help Us Build Bajah’s Rescue: A Safe Place for Cats in Need

Bajah’s Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit cat rescue located in Tiverton, Rhode Island. Our mission is to save cats in need, provide them with proper care, and help them find safe, loving homes.

Since opening Bajah’s Cat Cafe in 2021, we have worked alongside local shelters and rescue partners to give adoptable cats a comfortable, welcoming place to live while they wait for their forever families. We have seen firsthand how much of a difference the right environment can make. Cats who were once scared, overlooked, or struggling begin to trust people, show their personalities, and finally find the families they deserve.

Now, we are taking the next step by building a dedicated rescue space for Bajah’s Rescue—but making that space safe, functional, and fully compliant requires a significant amount of construction.

Our fundraising goal is $50,000. These funds will help cover major project expenses, including:

• Architectural plans and professional services, estimated at approximately $10,000

• A required fire and carbon monoxide alarm system, estimated at approximately $8,500

• Heating, cooling, ventilation, and fresh-air requirements

• Construction of walls and designated rescue areas

• Electrical, plumbing, and other necessary building work

• Building permits, inspections, and code-compliance expenses

• Construction materials and licensed contractors

• Safe, sanitary housing and essential equipment for the cats

These expenses are not cosmetic upgrades. They are necessary to create a legal, secure, properly ventilated, and easily sanitized rescue facility where cats can safely receive care.

While construction is underway, Bajah’s Rescue is continuing its work through foster homes. However, having a permanent rescue space will allow us to help more cats, provide a stable location for their care, work more effectively with our shelter partners, and give potential adopters an opportunity to meet cats in a calm and welcoming environment.

Every contribution brings us closer to opening this space. A $10 donation helps purchase supplies. A $50 donation helps with building materials and essential cat-care items. Larger donations help us tackle major expenses such as the fire alarm system, architectural work, ventilation, and construction.

If you cannot donate, sharing this fundraiser is also incredibly valuable. Every share helps our story reach another person who may believe in what we are building.

We want to be completely transparent about why we are asking for help: this project is bigger than anything we can fund alone, but it is too important to abandon. There are so many cats in our community who need somewhere safe to go and someone willing to fight for them.
