Based in Kedgwick, New Brunswick, Canada, my partner Danielle Saulnier and I share both this property and our creative lives. I work across photography, sculpture, installation, and murals; Danielle creates in textile, painting, and papermaking. Together we've built a space that already has the soul of a residency. What it needs now is the infrastructure to match.

Over the years, my studio have become something larger than just my own workspace. They've become a place where art happens, where ideas breathe, and where I've imagined other artists coming to do the same.

We're working toward opening a small, independent art residency here, offering visiting artists a safe and functional space to create in the heart of rural northern New Brunswick. The land, the light, and the quiet here are genuinely remarkable. The studio itself spans nearly 1,300 square feet across multiple connected sections, giving visiting artists generous room to work at scale.

The two most pressing needs are a new 220-amp electrical panel and the professional installation of an industrial heat pump I already own. These upgrades would make the space safe and code-compliant year-round. The heat pump installation in particular would open the residency to visiting artists through the colder months, from November through April, extending well beyond the warmer season we can already offer.

My goal is modest on purpose. At $1,800, the electrical panel alone would be a real and meaningful first step. Any amount beyond that moves us closer to the heat pump installation, which would eventually allow the residency to extend into shoulder seasons as well.

This isn't about building something grand. It's about making what already exists here safe and ready to share, so that other artists have a place to work, heal, rest, and make something real. An Oasis, in the heart of Atlantic Canada.

Au fil des années, cet atelier et cette propriété sont devenus quelque chose de plus grand qu'un simple espace de travail personnel. Un endroit où l'art se fait, où les idées respirent, et où j'ai longtemps imaginé d'autres artistes venir créer à leur tour.

Nous travaillons à l'ouverture d'une petite résidence d'artistes indépendante, offrant aux artistes en visite un espace sécuritaire et fonctionnel pour créer au cœur du nord rural du Nouveau-Brunswick. Le paysage, la lumière et le silence ici sont véritablement uniques. L'atelier lui-même s'étend sur près de 1 300 pieds carrés répartis sur plusieurs sections communicantes, offrant aux artistes en résidence un espace généreux pour travailler à grande échelle.

Les deux besoins les plus urgents sont l'installation d'un nouveau panneau électrique de 220 ampères et le raccordement professionnel d'une thermopompe industrielle que je possède déjà. Ces améliorations rendraient l'espace sécuritaire et conforme aux normes en toute saison. La thermopompe en particulier permettrait d'accueillir des artistes durant les mois plus froids, de novembre à avril, bien au-delà de la saison estivale que nous pouvons déjà offrir.

Mon objectif est volontairement modeste. À 1 800 $, le panneau électrique seul représenterait un premier pas concret et significatif. Tout montant au-delà nous rapproche de l'installation de la thermopompe, ce qui permettrait éventuellement à la résidence de s'étendre aux saisons de transition également.

Il ne s'agit pas de construire quelque chose de grandiose. Il s'agit de rendre ce qui existe déjà ici sécuritaire et prêt à être partagé, afin que d'autres artistes aient un endroit pour travailler, guérir, se ressourcer et créer quelque chose de vrai. Une Oasis, au cœur des provinces atlantiques.
