Hi! My name is Jamie. My son Anthony - who’s friends know him as Tony the Tiger - was in a motorcycle accident in 2020 - breaking his C6 causing paralysis from his upper chest down and in his hands and triceps. With lots of help from the community he has been able to do intensive physical therapy over the last three years, and this May he was able to travel to have surgery to correct failing hardware in his neck that was creating a life-threatening situation. Now stabilized he can make greater gains in with PT, but to him more importantly he now has the opportunity to have greater involvement in adaptive sports - specifically mountain biking.

This GoFundMe is to help him reach his goal of having a custom mountain bike built. And, its not just a “bike”, it's a powerful physical therapy tool that will help him regain an active lifestyle! The hand crank alone will help me build endurance and strength in his shoulders and arms. These gains and others will flow over into helping him with learning and doing things like self transfers, self propelling in a manual chair, personal care skills and other adaptive sports like surfing. Any additional funds over his goal will go to entry fees into adaptive biking races and surf competitions, and accessory equipment like helmets and specialized gloves and gear he will need.

This injury requires a village to not just heal but to adapt and excel. Being in nature, from biking to surfing, have always been his “church”, a way to process stress, depression and also make connections.
