In late 2021, I spent a month in Ghana on sabbatical. During that time, I was welcomed with a generosity and openness that stayed with me long after I returned home. Some of the people who meant the most to me there are now dealing with serious flooding, little support from local government, and very limited resources.
I’m raising money to help rebuild the home of my teacher and friend, Elike Agbeli, and his family in Kopeiya, Ghana. Elike comes from a long line of master drummers and has been an important part of my life and learning. His family’s house has suffered major damage — the roof is failing, and the walls and floors are cracking.
They’ve already begun the rebuilding, and they only need $5,000 to finish it. That amount will provide a safe, stable home for Elike, his mother, and his sister — something that will make an immediate, lasting difference in their lives.
Anything you’re able to give will go directly toward completing the house. Thank you for helping make this possible.
