Countless animals—dogs and cats alike—are abandoned, left to fend for themselves without food, medical care, or even a safe place to sleep. In the Andes, pets are often overlooked, and many families, struggling with low resources, do not have the means to properly care for them.

In the serene yet remote village of Jauja, located in the Mantaro Valley, is home to about 15,000 people. Perched high in the Peruvian Andes, there is a hidden crisis that few hear about.

This is where Pichuberry steps in. We were founded out of pure love for these vulnerable, forgotten animals. Our mission is clear: to rescue, rehabilitate, and provide a brighter future for the pets of the Andes. However, we face an uphill battle—our team is small, with just seven local volunteers, and we receive no support from the government or private entities.

What We’ve Accomplished So Far:

• In 2023, we spayed and neutered 1,529 pets, exceeding our goal.

• We found loving homes for 444 pets, fully vaccinated and ready for adoption.

• Currently, we are caring for 68 adult dogs, many of whom suffered from severe injuries or illnesses such as distemper.

Our Mission:

• Spaying and neutering at least 100 pets each month.

• Providing food, medical care, and eventually a safe shelter for all rescued animals.

We need your help to keep this mission alive and build a future where no pet is left to suffer alone.
