My name is Ashley, and I’m a single mom to five kids. My youngest, Gio, is autistic and just five years old. Recently, he figured out how to open the child locks on our doors, and one night he escaped. Thankfully, a passing car found him before anything terrible happened. Another time, Gio ran from me so quickly that he made it onto the road around the corner before I could catch him. My elderly parents help care for him while I’m at work, but Gio is so fast that it’s hard for them to keep up.
