Goat Busters CIC is a Community Interest Company delivering a community-led grazing and land management initiative using goats at Barton Fields.

What began as a small local initiative has grown into a valued green space where nature, land management, and community wellbeing come together.

We are now entering an expansion phase and need support to strengthen infrastructure and increase capacity.

What began as a small local idea has grown into a valued green space where land management, nature, and community wellbeing come together.

️ What the community told us

We recently carried out a local survey about the Barton Fields goat grazing area.

The feedback was clear:
• People want more goats
• People want stronger, more secure fencing
• The space is valued and people want it improved and sustained long-term

This fundraising directly responds to that feedback and supports the next stage of development.

What this CIC delivers

Through community grazing, the goats:
• Manage overgrown land naturally (reducing brambles and invasive growth)
• Support biodiversity and habitat improvement
• Provide a calm, accessible green space for the community
• Offer informal wellbeing benefits through nature engagement

This is practical, low-impact land management delivered in a community setting.

What we are raising funds for

We are seeking to expand the herd and improve site infrastructure:

Livestock
• 2 goats: £200 – £350 each
• Total: £400 – £700

Transport
• Collection and delivery: £350

Infrastructure (fencing & enclosure)

To ensure long-term safety and sustainability, we are improving fencing options:
• Stock fencing (agricultural standard): £5 – £10 per metre
Estimated total: £500 – £1,500+
• Post & rail with reinforcement: £15 – £30 per metre
Estimated total: £1,000 – £3,000
• Heras fencing (temporary): £30 – £50 per panel. Estimated total: £300 – £1,000

These improvements are essential for creating a secure, long-term grazing environment suitable for both livestock and public safety.

Ongoing care costs (sustainability)

To maintain welfare standards and daily care, we also require regular supplies:
• Feed: £13 per bag
• Hay: £9.50 per bale
• Straw: £3.50 per bale
• Salt licks: £3.50 each
• Wood chips (bedding): £10.90 per bag

These ongoing costs ensure the goats remain healthy and the site remains safe, clean, and well managed.

Total fundraising target: £1,500 – £3,000+

This funding will allow us to:
• Expand the grazing herd in line with community feedback
• Strengthen fencing and safety infrastructure
• Maintain daily care and welfare standards
• Support the long-term sustainability of the CIC’s work

Why this matters

This CIC is delivering something simple but effective:

A community space where land is managed naturally, people feel calmer, and local engagement with nature is increasing.

The goats have already become part of that identity.

This next step is about ensuring the project is:
• safe
• sustainable
• responsive to community need
• and built to last

How you can support
• Donate if you are able
• Share this campaign with others
• Support a local CIC delivering measurable community benefit.

Sometimes the most effective community solutions are also the simplest.

Goats. Land. People. Care.

We are building something that already has community support — and with your help, we can make it stronger, safer, and long-term.
