Help Build a Pediatric Center of Excellence in East Africa
Right now in Kampala, parents are arriving at Mengo Hospital carrying children who need urgent care.
Mengo Hospital has served families for more than 125 years. Founded in 1897 as Uganda’s first hospital and one of the oldest in East Africa, it has long been a place people trust in their most vulnerable moments.
But today, the pediatric facilities are overwhelmed.
East Africa is one of the youngest regions in the world. In Uganda alone, 48% of the population is under the age of 16. Every year, Mengo delivers more than 5,000 babies. Children arrive daily battling malaria, pneumonia, severe infections, birth complications, and chronic illnesses like sickle cell disease.
The demand is constant. The need is growing.
Doctors and nurses bring extraordinary skill and dedication.
The missing piece is not expertise.
It is space.
It is infrastructure.
It is capacity.
That is why Mengo Hospital Partners is raising funds to build a new Pediatric and Outpatient Building at Mengo Hospital.
This is not a temporary fix. It is long-term infrastructure that will strengthen pediatric care for generations across Uganda and the broader East African region.
The new facility will:
• Quadruple pediatric capacity
• Include a Level 4 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
• Add child and adolescent ICUs
• Expand surgical and outpatient services
• Train the next generation of pediatric doctors and nurses
Once complete, it will serve over 70,000 children each year and is projected to save at least 2,000 lives annually.
This building represents stability for families.
Relief for clinicians.
And a future where more children survive and thrive.
If you have roots in East Africa, this is an opportunity to invest in the next generation.
If you simply believe every child deserves access to modern, high-quality care, your support matters just as much.
Give what you can.

Together, we can build hope that endures.
