Enrichment and socialization are key factors in keeping our dogs happy, healthy, and adoptable! As much as we try to keep our animals calm and content, the shelter is simply a stressful place. We rely on volunteers to help alleviate some of the stress by getting our dogs out multiple times each day for walks and social engagement. This time out of the kennel can be truly life altering for the pet and increases the likelihood that the pet will have a successful outcome.

While walks are incredibly helpful, play yards can take enrichment to another level! Allowing a dog to be off leash in a secure play space means that you can allow for higher levels of engagement, including mental stimulation through agility training and dog-to-dog socialization through playgroups.

We recently added a play yard in 2025 (thanks to generous donations), giving us a total of 2 play yards for shelter dogs. We are always looking to improve those spaces and we're hoping for donations to maximize their potential and treat shelter dogs to more fun outside of their kennels while they wait to find their forever homes.
