Thousands of Muslim families travel through La Pocatière, Quebec every year with nowhere to pray. Help us build a mosque that will serve travelers, newcomers, and the growing local Muslim community — right off Highway 20.

Imagine driving for hours through beautiful rural Quebec with your family. Your children are tired, it's time for prayer — and there is nowhere to stop. No mosque. No prayer room. Nothing for hundreds of kilometers.

This is the reality for thousands of Muslim families every single year on Highway 20 — the main corridor connecting Quebec City to the Atlantic provinces of Canada.

We are the Islamic Cultural Center of La Pocatière (CCIP), and we are changing that.

WHO WE ARE

Founded in 2020 by a small group of Muslims in La Pocatière, Quebec, the CCIP started with just 2 people, 1 small rented space, and 1 vision: to create a place of prayer and community for Muslims in the Kamouraska region.

Today, our community has grown rapidly — and our small space is no longer enough. With the increasing number of Muslims in the region, we simply cannot accommodate everyone for daily prayers, let alone for Jumu'ah or Eid.

We are a fully registered Canadian nonprofit (Corporation #1239586-0, NEQ 707748273), incorporated on October 5, 2020. We receive absolutely ZERO government funding. Every dollar comes from community donations.

WHAT WE'VE ALREADY ACCOMPLISHED

Despite our small size, we have made a big impact in our region:

Community Giving: We donated $720 to our local food bank (Moisson Kamouraska), $3,000 to a local school for a sensory room for children with autism, $1,000 to a daycare for playground improvements, and $2,800 directly to community members in need.

Social Engagement: We participated in the Peace March, International Women's Rights Day, and a memorial march for femicide victims. We organized an Open House Day attended by 38 people including the Mayor of La Pocatière and the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese.

Media Recognition: Radio-Canada featured us in a 10-minute segment. Le Placoteux (local newspaper) covered our story with 106+ reactions. The Prefect of the MRC de Kamouraska sent us a formal letter of commendation.

Interfaith Bridges: During our Open House, a Catholic nun prayed alongside our members — each in her own faith. This moment of interfaith harmony was covered by local media and touched the entire community.

We maintain daily prayers, Friday sermons, a weekly Quran reading circle, and full coordination of Ramadan, Eid El Fitr, and Eid Al Adha.

OUR PROJECT:

We have identified a property located just 30 seconds from the Highway 20 exit in La Pocatière — the perfect location for a mosque that will serve both our local community and every Muslim traveler passing through.

The property already includes:

• A guest house with apartments for short-term rental

• A small restaurant HALAL

• A seasonal campground

These existing facilities will generate revenue to help sustain the center from day one. This is not a project that will constantly need more funding — it is designed to be financially self-sustaining.

Our vision is to build a complete Islamic center including:

• A dignified mosque for daily prayers, Jumu'ah, and Eid

• A Quranic school for children and adults

• Multipurpose rooms for community events

• Services to help Muslim newcomers integrate into Canadian society

WHY THIS MOSQUE MATTERS BEYOND OUR TOWN

La Pocatière sits on Highway 20 — the main East-West corridor of Quebec. Every Muslim family driving to or from the Atlantic provinces passes through here.

Eastbound travelers heading to Rivière-du-Loup, the Gaspé Peninsula, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island will pass right by our center.

Westbound travelers from the Maritimes heading to Quebec City or Montreal will find a welcoming place to stop.

Visitors from Western Canada and the United States exploring the beautiful Kamouraska region will finally have a place for prayer.

This mosque will serve not just La Pocatière — it will serve EVERY Muslim traveler crossing Eastern Quebec. Thousands of people every year.

$1,400,000 CAD — to acquire the land and property.
