In the fight against patent trolling there are a lot of avenues to be taken. Unfortunately many of those avenues can be difficult, ineffective, or prohibitively expensive. Vague terminology used by powerful companies with limitless resources can also make it expensive or even impossible for small companies to fight without falling into bankruptcy. I seek to provide a resource to aid in their fight and prevent patent trolling.

One method of doing this that I have planned on was the creation of a detailed searchable online database of game mechanics and prior art that displays them. After talking to several IP lawyers, with one of them suggesting it independently of me discussing it with them, and another confirming that it would be a useful tool in the fight against patent trolling, I am further galvanized to create this database.

This endeavor will take a lot of time and manhours to properly implement, as well as money in order to host the database and make the website functional and easy to use. Money donated to this fundraiser will be used to pay for the database/website hosting and development, as well as to hire a small team to help me. The goal is to eventually have every game mechanic and as many examples as possible of those mechanics, with a specific and detailed explanation of how those mechanics are implemented, as well as videos displaying those mechanics, compiled into an easily searchable database, and as such is not a job that can be easily done by a single person. I intend to continuously improve upon the database, adding features and utility to it as it grows.
