Help build a computer lab at a school in Cambodia

Donation protected
Please help to create a computer lab to teach computer skills to Cambodian high school students moving on to university

I am a retired IT person. I retired from a Network Administrator position after 15 years working for an impoverished school district in Phoenix, AZ. My duties included configuring Cisco routers, switches, wireless access points, along with running the cabling, setting up PC’s and Macs, performing help desk duties. I also instructed teachers on the use of new software, both online applications and locally installed programs

I’m now living in a small village in Southwestern Cambodia. The village consists mainly of rice farmers. Their children attend the local school located in the village.

Many students wish to continue their education at a university after completing high school. They have no money to do so, so an American friend and I pay for university education so the students can pursue a career path. Many of the students have gone on to become police officers, architects, and even doctors.

As there are no computer labs in the school, I purchase laptops for some of the 12th graders who will be attending the university. As an IT person, I know computer skills are needed to succeed in business. When a laptop is gifted to a student I teach them computer skills in the evening on a table outside of my house.

I’m asking for your generosity to construct a computer lab in the high school. I will teach basic computer skills such as keyboarding, word processing and spreadsheet applications, along with email and Google classroom. I wish to share my computer knowledge with students to change their future lives. They have cell phones but have never used a computer.

The cost for 13 laptops is $340/laptop. Internet access for one year is $25/month ($300/year) for wifi. The fiber line will be installed for free from the (ISP) vendor. The router is also free from the (ISP) vendor.

The total cost for the equipment and Internet is $4,720.00. I would also like to purchase a locking recharging cart. The price is around $600 for the cart. If your donations are over $4, 720 I will purchase the cart. If you would like the equipment specs before assisting with this project, please send me an email.
