Help Build a Brighter Future For Children of All Abilities!

Every child deserves a safe place to grow, learn and be loved, no exceptions.

In Northeast Georgia, families of children with disabilities or complex medical needs face an impossible challenge: many childcare centers simply aren’t equipped to care for children who require nursing support, therapy, or specialized attention. Because of this, hundreds of children in our community never have the opportunity to attend early childhood education programs, and parents are often forced to stay home or leave the workforce.

My Story

When my son Camden was born with significant medical conditions, I quickly realized that many of the experiences most families take for granted would look very different for us. Something as simple as attending daycare wasn’t an option, because most childcare centers simply weren’t equipped to provide the level of care he needed.

Instead, Camden was enrolled in a program that allowed a private duty nurse to come into our home for several hours each day. This support made it possible for me to continue working while knowing he was safe and receiving the specialized care he required.

In 2021, our family experienced an unexpected loss when one of Camden’s nurses, someone who had become like family to us, passed away. The loss was devastating emotionally, but it also created an immediate and difficult reality. Without a nurse who was trained in Camden’s complex care, school was not a safe option for him, and I had to leave my job in order to stay home and care for him.

During that time, I began searching for answers. I wondered how other families in similar situations managed to work, care for their children, and navigate a system that often has so few options for children with complex needs.

What I discovered opened my eyes: countless families in our community face the same challenge. Many parents are forced to step away from their careers simply because there are not enough safe, supportive childcare environments equipped to care for children with diverse medical and developmental needs.

That realization became the beginning of a bigger vision, one where families like ours would no longer have to face these barriers alone.

That moment ignited a new purpose for me, Camden is not alone. There are hundreds of children in our community facing the same barriers every single day. Families love their children deeply, but the lack of accessible, medically supported childcare keeps them from working, pursuing opportunities, and just living a balanced life.

I decided that no family should face this on their own. That’s why I’m building a Christian childcare center that welcomes every child, regardless of ability, where children with complex needs can learn, grow, and thrive alongside their peers.

My Vision

Lion Cub Academy was born from a deep desire to create the kind of childcare environment that many families struggle to find, one that truly welcomes children of all abilities. My vision is a nonprofit center where inclusive early education, therapy services, and compassionate care come together under one roof.

This will be a place where children build confidence, families find support, and every child is encouraged to discover the strength inside them.

With your help, we can turn this vision into a reality for families across our community.
