Hi, my name is Olav, and in 2024 I traveled to Rwanda by myself to experience life in Central Africa. During my time there, I met some incredible people who told me about a very special community school on the outskirts of Gisenyi, close to the border of DR Congo.

The school is run by a few dedicated locals who volunteer their time to teach underprivileged children, many of whom can’t afford even the few dollars it costs in annual public school fee. Some are orphans, others have fled conflict, and many come from families facing extreme hardship.

Despite having almost no resources, these volunteers have created a safe place for kids to learn, grow, and hope. They share books, write on scraps of paper, and show up every day eager to study.

I’m raising funds to help provide:

• Basic school supplies (notebooks, pens, pencils)

• Simple classroom furniture and materials

• Meals for children who come to school hungry
