Help Build a Better Future for Children with Disabilities

In 2010, we started with just eight children. One of them was our own son.
We started with a simple belief: children with autism and other disabilities in our community deserved a place where they could learn, develop, feel safe and be accepted for who they are.
For more than fifteen years, we have kept that belief alive. We receive no financial support from the state. What we have built has been possible largely because of the generosity of local businesses and people in our community who believed in what we were doing.
During these years, more than 100 children have passed through our autism centre. Some families even moved to our town for several years simply so their child could attend. We have watched children with autism arrive unable to communicate with words and, after years of patient work and specialised support, leave us able to speak and communicate. We have seen children make progress that once seemed impossible, and families eventually return home or move on knowing their child had been given a better chance.
In the early years, my wife Kati and I had enormous energy and big plans for the future.
Then, when our son was fourteen, our lives changed again. In addition to autism, he developed epilepsy. As parents, it affected us deeply. Caring for him became a responsibility that never truly stops — day or night — and inevitably some of the momentum we once had was lost.
But we never gave up.
The autism centre continued. The children continued to come. And today we find ourselves facing a new problem: we simply do not have enough space.
We need another classroom. We need more room for therapy, learning and development. And the children we began helping years ago are growing up. We must now think about their future too — about creating a place where young adults with autism can have meaningful activities, develop skills, work where possible and continue to feel that they belong.
For fifteen years, local businesses and our community have carried an extraordinary part of this journey with us. But every community has limits, and there is only so much we can continue asking from the same generous people.
That is why, for the first time, we are asking for help beyond our community.
We are not starting with an idea on a piece of paper. We are asking you to help us continue something that has already changed the lives of more than 100 children and their families.
Every donation will help us create more space, reach more children and build a future for those who will continue to need us when childhood ends.
If you can help, thank you. If you cannot donate, sharing our story can take it further than we could ever take it alone.
We have come this far together. Now we are asking the world to help us take the next step.
Our doors are open. Over the years, we have welcomed visitors from the Netherlands and other countries who wanted to see our work for themselves. If you would like to visit us in Odorheiu Secuiesc, Romania, meet us and see what we do, you are very welcome. Please contact us to arrange a visit.
