TL;DR: My dog Buggy has stage 4 lymphoma. With chemo he could have around a year of happy, healthy life. Costs will be ~£12k, insurance may only covers ~£4k (if claim is successful). We’re asking for help to cover the costs so Buggy can keep enjoying cuddles, walks, and ball time (and... some cheeky chicken)

It’s taken us a few days to process the news, but Buggy needs us now, so here it goes.

Last Wednesday night (13/08), while playing with my cheeky boy Buggy, I found lumps in his neck. The next day our vet conducted check-ups and ran some tests and told us it was very likely lymphoma (cancer). A few days later, oncology confirmed: Buggy has stage 4 lymphoma.

Lymphoma in dogs isn’t curable, but it is treatable. With proper care and chemo, Buggy can still enjoy around a year (sometimes longer) of cuddles, ball time, doggie walks, and of course, lots of chicken (his favourite). Without treatment, we’d only have weeks...

The costs

We expect chemo itself to cost around £8,000. On top of that come initial consultations, scans, blood tests, medications, and regular check-ups. Altogether, the true cost is closer to £12,000, and potentially more if insurance denies parts of the claim or if extra tests are needed. My insurance is expected to cover only up to £4,000 (if claim is successful).

The prognosis

With treatment, average prognosis is around 12 months, sometimes more. Without it, only weeks. The goal of chemo is quality of life, so Buggy will hopefully stay his cheeky, playful self throughout most of this journey.

The ask

If you’re able, please consider donating towards Buggy’s treatment and care. Any amount, no matter how small, helps. Any surplus (if we are lucky to get more) will go towards Buggy’s ongoing care or, if not needed, to a charity.

I’ll be attaching invoices, bills, and once received, the written chemo estimate so everything is transparent.

Buggy has given me more than I could ever repay: comfort during break-ups, strength through the war, laughter on long nights studying, even courage in therapy. He’s not only my dog but also my best friend and the star of the game I made (Detective Buggy !). His spirit is cheeky, loving, and endlessly supportive, always reminding me to keep going and face my fears.
