Help Bug get eye removal Surgery

Hi everyone, I’m fundraising for Rhylee’s dog Bug, my grand pup. About 2 months ago Rhylee noticed something different with Bug’s eye-site. She took Bug to her local vet where they tried treatment with antibiotics and saw little to no change. From there they were recommended to be seen by a specialist (the closest one being in Stillwater, Ok). The specialist stated that bug was suffering from an autoimmune disease (Which is a disease where the body's immune system attacks healthy cells, in this case, Bugs eyes) causing her to have inflammation in the eyes which lead to total blindness. They put her on an oral steroid and a topical steroid to try and alleviate the inflammation and see if that could help Bug gain her sight back. This past Thursday 8/15, Rhylee made the trip back to Stillwater for Bugs checkup. She was told Bug had not responded to the medication in the way they had hoped. Her eyes were still inflamed and her sight had not improved at all. With most immune-mediated conditions they will require lifelong immunosuppressive therapy to control and prevent future inflammation, meaning bug would be on medications for the rest of her life. The immunosuppressant therapy was option one. Since her eyes are permanently blind and have not improved with medication, option two is removal of the eyes so they will no longer be a source of discomfort. With removal they will submit the eyes to a pathologist to try and determine any underlying cause. Rhylee has thoroughly considered both options and has chosen to do the eye removal as she feels it’s the best fit for her and her fur baby. A little bit about Bug she will be 3 on August 24th, she is a smaller mixed breed dog, and she loves to play with toys and her big brother. Rhylee has had her since she was 18 and Bug was 6 weeks, they’ve basically gotten to grow up together. Bug’s a part of the family and we hate to see her uncomfortable.
