Help Bug Get a New Leg
Hi there! My name is Lena and this is my dog, Bug:
In the summer of 2014, Bug was hit by a car after squeezing under our fence and attempting to cross a busy road. The nerves in his leg were severed and his lungs badly bruised but he was otherwise okay. We kept his leg in the hopes he would regain function of it but instead it atrophied, leaving him with what we lovingly called his 'chicken wing'.
Bug had surgery in November 2016 to amputate the leg that was now a nuisance. He took to being an official tripod as if he were born that way. He was able to enjoy walks, visits to the dog park, and being the goofball that he is.
Fast forward to now: Buggy is 8 years old and is suffering from back pain. He has not been able to go on walks much farther than a block around our house before he sits down and needs to be carried. His dog park visits became shorter until it was evident that, while he loved to chase and bark with/at the other dogs, running and playing was too much.
My friend sent me a video of a company called Bionic Pets; they create customized prosthetic limbs for animals with a 3D printer. A full leg prosthetic could change Buggy's life for the better: longer walks, more running, less face-planting, and possibly (hopefully?) a way to lessen his pain.
Any amount donated is immensely appreciated and will go directly to the purchase of a prosthesis. If you prefer to donate funds directly to Bionic Pets, you can mail a check to 43671 Trade Center Place, #148, Sterling, VA 20166. Be sure to include his full name, Bug Krone, so they know whose account to apply it to.
Thank you so much for your help! I will keep this updated so you can all see Bug with his brand new leg in the future! <3
