Calling all animal lovers!
Our pal and co-animal lover, Buffy, needs our help! One of her animal shelters/barns tragically burned down in a fire (possibly an electrical fire caused by animal damage). She managed to save her goats and some chickens, but unfortunately a few lives were lost.
About Buffy:
Buffy takes care of (and loves) around 100 rescued animals on her farm in Oregon. She has devoted her life to giving abused/neglected animals another chance.
Many of us have read Buffy’s animal adventures over years and some of us feel like we’ve gotten to know a little bit about her and her animals. We’ve seen Buffy pick up dozens of chicks at the post office when the person who ordered them changed their mind and left them abandoned. We’ve watched her hand feed chickens with deformed beaks, bringing them back from the brink of starvation. There have been many stories of Buffy putting her animals needs above her own and she does not ask for hand outs even when multiple people ask where they can give her money. She does have an online shop consisting of handmade items.
This time I’d like it to be easy for people to donate to this very special person who is doing the vital work of loving and caring for forgotten animals.
All donations will go directly to Buffy to help her rebuild the animal shelter/barn. Even $5 would help if you have it. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
The following is a description of one of Buffy’s roosters who lost his life in the fire (seen in cover photo here). The description can be found on Buffy’s X (Twitter) page @Opiumbrella :
“Pop tart was a sweet tiny boy, who had little man syndrome when it came to anyone messing with his girls. He loved snuggles, and riding around in my hood or sweater pocket while I did morning chores. He took care of every baby that came through this place, he was the self appointed new mom/chicks defender. And he did such a good job at it. He was a very old man, but still looked after his girls, and I have no doubt that all of his hens made it out, because of him. Now your watch has ended sweet boy. I’m so sorry.“
