Buffy has had a tremendous impact on our community and has worked to help so many others achieve their goals. Let’s help her achieve hers. 

Theres no no better way to describe what this masters program means for Buffy than by using her own words:

I don’t consider those that I serve as merely a population in need; these people are my friends and my neighbors and I love them far too much not to try to give them my absolute best. They deserve it. And the people who have supported me throughout my life, those that have continuously invested in me because they believe in my potential to be a change maker, I owe them the same commitment to success. 

The Master’s in Social Innovation program at the Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice will help me to build skills in sustainable business model design, problem solving, non-profit finance, and creative thinking that will develop my abilities so that my impact on communities in need will match my passion for social reform. The program combines the academic course work of a two-year program into 10 months, and involves collaborative and immersion learning experiences with rigorous research based curriculum. In plain speak I’m going to be working my ass off just to keep up. But I will survive it because my investment in creating prosperous conditions for marginalized and impoverished people in the community of Mobile is lifelong.
