Hello Friends!
Budsie (Bud-SEE) is our 8.5-year-old yellow lab mix rescue from PAWS Chicago. Budsie (aka Budsie Wudsie, Bud, chunky monkey, chunky butt, PITA, Mr. Chunks, mister man, baby boy, little man) is our world, and everything a rescue dog is expected to be and more; he is sweet, funny, friendly, big-hearted, has a lot of spunk and a lot of life left to live. He LOVES food (just not fruits or vegetables, go figure!) more than anything in the world, car rides, exploring at the dog park, gives the best kisses, and is the best lazy Sunday partner.
Budsie was recently diagnosed with diabetes in December 2021, and advanced cataracts in January 2022. Over summer 2021, our neighbor frequently said he noticed Budsie seemed slimmer; we brushed it off thinking how is this possible if he's ALWAYS hungry and such a beggar! Little did we know, a few months later our vet would tell us he'd lost over 25lbs and had a glucose reading of 621. He went from living his best life to requiring a strict diabetic diet, insulin x2/day, and daily eye drops for inflammation.
Since Bud's diabetes diagnoses, we've noticed that he's lost a bit of that spunk due to declining vision. Budsie is bumping into furniture, recently fell into a gap between the house and deck when coming up from the yard after going potty in broad daylight because he thought he was at the sliding door, and cannot see us even when standing right in front of him. He is not just a dog, he is part of our family and our best furry friend. Letting him go blind is NOT an option. My fiancé and I want to give him our best shot at a long life as the first furry family member we have had together.
Budsie passed his pre-tests and is scheduled for cataract surgery in both eyes on Thursday, February 10, 2022. His treatment costs are projected to be in the $7,500 range (pre-testing, surgery, post-op medications & follow-up opthomologist visits). Truthfully, even if we don't reach our go-fund-me "goal," any amount of help would ease the burden of his bills.
We do not want any of our family, friends, or strangers to feel obligated to contribute; however, we would be grateful for any small amount that could help us treat our beloved family member and help Bud-SEE again.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you!
