Ena's Community Cats first met Buddy the cat in January 2025, when we helped his owner Robert afford to get him neutered. This glossy, black haired little beauty was a special little kitty, and we were happy to help.
A little over a month ago, Robert reached out to us in distress. Buddy had a terrible UTI, and was in grave pain and danger. Some quick help from Chilliwack Animal Hospital helped save him, and after getting him on specialized food, things seemed to improve.
However, last week the problem recurred, and this time, it was even worse. Due to financial limitations, Robert almost had to take Buddy to be euthanized this afternoon. He was in so much pain, and Robert was out of options - he couldn't bear to see him suffer. Chilliwack Animal Hospital has helped get him through today, but there's no doubt about it - if Buddy doesn't receive a special surgery to widen his urethra, this condition will continue to recur, and will ultimately end his life.
The cost of this surgery, and subsequent antibiotics and medical care while he heals will be close to $2000.
Robert loves Buddy so very much, and shares a very special bond with him. Buddy is leash trained, and when he's feeling well, he loves to go for walks. He has plenty of windows to look out of, and spends his days as a very happy cat. Buddy is quite young - only four years of age - and is exceedingly clever. He even knows how to roll over! He was originally rescued in Kelowna as a young cat, and has been with Robert ever since.
ANY amount helps - let's band together and support Buddy, save his life, and give Robert and him many more happy years together.
