Help Buddy and Leo Secure a Safe Home

The unimaginable happened. One of the camper jacks collapsed leaving us completely without and resulting in loss of most of the contents. We really need help now to cover the cost in replacing all that’s been lost!

I'm Leo and I'm proudly owned by the pooch you see in the cover photo, "Buddy". We are without a home at present and have been living in a truck bed camper purchased in July of last year along with the pickup it's sitting in the bed of. While the camper has kept us somewhat well over the last almost year, there are two issues: 1) the seller didn't disclose severe water damage I only became aware of after purchase made with my every last bit of savings; 2) a recent accident pierced a hole through the back of the camper and straight through the closet and area outside the closet on the interior, which also badly damaged the exterior passenger side of the camper, leaving it crumpled and exposing the interior to more water and other weather-related damage.

My credit suffered significantly while becoming permanently disabled following early-aged bilateral hip replacement, which led to more permanent damage to my spine and pelvis from an injury I sustained after a fall in my workplace.

Bad credit has made home buying out of reach without cash to pay a very substantial down payment, and renting even more challenging due to my eviction from my last home, resultant to damage to property by someone close to me during the course of a series of bipolar episodes. Also, it's difficult to find properties allowing for my very large Goldendoodle, who, by the way, would rather suffer for 24 hours waiting to use his outside bathroom than dirty his home. He's never even damaged any property—mine or anyone else's—well, his own toys he selected by mouth from the local Walmart or pet store have been known to become deaf and/or blind upon losing one or both ears and eyes while playing tug-o-war!

As such, I am asking for your help—as difficult as it is to do. Less than 10 years ago, I was living in Los Angeles and was a career-driven 25-plus-year Payroll Manager with a good income and great creditworthiness. Now, I can barely survive on the reduced SSDI income and have no family members to help me and my BEST FRIEND "Buddy"... who I REFUSE to live without. As hard as times are, I made a lifetime commitment to him and won't abandon him EVER. Buddy is my forever co-pilot, the love of my life, he's simply my world! I've wondered if I've done him wrong by not re-homing him, but he's been with me since he was 10 weeks old, and I honestly feel I would have cut my own life short rather than endure what I've been forced to while homeless. The judgment, the scrutiny. At first, I was embarrassed, even ashamed... and now, after long talks with my greater power, I'm happy I stuck around and remain hopeful things will improve. Me and Buddy would be given a HUGE boost up with your help in securing a used motorhome. One not riddled with damage and unsanitary areas where we've been plagued with insects and rodents.
