Buddy and Hoss Morgan fundraiser

Donation protected

Saturday.

Senior Day at baseball.
Great win on the field!

And then it all changed in the blink of an eye.
A phone message no parent ever wants to get. Your children have been in an accident. You better get here quick...they are being airlifted soon. My legs flew out the door to get Steven and we raced down the road fearful of what we would find.

Lord God, protect my boys.

Traffic slows to a stop and our boys are up ahead. Each in their own ambulance. I see the wreckage.

How can they survive?

Lord God, have mercy.

We each race into an ambulance to put our eyes on our boys and offer reassurance. Then switch so we can assure ourselves as well. Lord God, thank you for these people who are helping our children.

Both are being airlifted to UK. Buddy first as he is most banged up and serious. They offer me a seat in the copter with Hoss. Unheard of...and its mentioned at least 5 times...its not common practice to allow parents on the flight. Lord God, thank you.

The community starts reaching out. Texts and calls from people we know and many people we don't. All offering support and more importantly prayers We send a few people texts and phone calls as our point people to spread the news within family and friends. Our phones are blowing up with support.

Lord God, hear our prayers.

At the hospital the staff is amazing. Our boys are in their care. Calming and reassuring as they go through this incredible journey. We begin to hear assessments. Hoss's ankle and elbow are concerning. It will be hours before a CT scan and spine is cleared to allow him release from the neck brace.

He is a trooper.

This is tough.

But then there is Buddy.

He is more serious. Broken ribs, partially collapsed lung, internal bleeding, broken pelvis, fractures along the spine. Blood loss is concerning. That's what we know. He has a team working on him. He undergoes a 3 hour procedure to stop the bleeding. Time ticks by so slowly.

Lord God, continue to be with my boys.

Yet, the texts keep coming in. Showing support and offering prayers. Our daughter Jennifer has headed to farm to take over there Ben has had it rough seeing all of this and carrying on while we were gone. He has a massive headache and I am sure is in a bit of shock too. Jennifer is there to care for him and take care of things we hadn't even thought of. A dear friend Pat, sends her daughter to UK with sandwiches for us. I decline at first but upon receipt realize this was the very thing Steven and I needed to fight a headache and continue being strong. Our son Matt calls to tell us focus on the boys, they will be sending meals and have started a fund to help with expenses. We don't need to worry about these thing, he says, he is taking care of that.

Lord God, thank you for the blessings.

I cannot touch my boys enough. Hold a hand, stroke the hair, be there. With every touch I send a prayer of Thanksgiving that I CAN still touch them. Lord God, thank you.

And now....it is 10 hours later. 3:30 am. Buddy is in ICU in traction. Need to align his pelvis to prepare for surgery Monday. He will be staying at UK 7-10 days. Hoss is waiting for a 2nd CT scan on elbow to see if surgery is needed. He will be admitted...as soon as a room is available. They are at capacity. This is brutal. Steven is with Buddy and I am with Hoss. Our boys will never be alone in this journey of healing. We are fueled by your prayers and support. Lord God, YOU ARE MIGHTY!

We are humbled and in awe of those reaching out. We are grateful for every single prayer. Please continue those prayers. Our God is big and the ultimate healer and physician. He brought these boys through the accident for HIS purpose.
Lord God, praise your name.

We may not answer every text, call or message but we do read them. Continue to pray for healing, for pain relief, for strength and for the little victories we will see that will help us make it though this.

You are a blessing to our family.
Thank you.
