If you know me then you know Bucky and how much he means to me. I rescued him a few months ago from the shelter, where he spent 9 out of his first 12 months of life, he’s still learning how to feel safe in the world. We were home in Chicago for Thanksgiving, Bucky’s first time there. Being in a new environment overwhelmed him, and he got scared and ran off.

After 50 long hours of searching, we finally found him but not in the condition I prayed for. Bucky surrendered himself because he was in pain, unable to put weight on one of his legs. After multiple vet visits and X-rays, we learned that he had been hit by a car and has a fractured hip. He now needs surgery to repair the fracture and give him the chance to walk again.

I’m incredibly grateful he’s alive and still here with me, it truly could have been so much worse. But now I face the reality of giving him the medical care he needs. As a 22 year old trying my best, I struggle to cover this surgery on my own. So I’m humbly asking for help.
