Help Bucky Beat FIP Update:
Sweet little Bucky has been through a lot since I started this Go Fund Me.
-He developed a tolerance to the GS FIP medication, had an FIP lapse, developed glaucoma in his eye and had to have surgery to have it removed.
-We had to extend his treatment by 30 days and add a second FIP medication so now he gets 3 shots a day.
-He has become incontinent as a results of the paralysis. While he uses the litter box unfortunately he leaks in between.
-Bucky's adopters owner-surrendered him shortly after the surgery. He is no longer living with his bonded brother Peanut and he is with a temporary foster.
I am looking into medication, acupuncture, laser and herbal remedies that have had success curing incontinence, especially if it is muscle-tone related.
I still need $650 more to finance the GS medication for his $30 day extension.
The acupuncture/laser/herbal treatment will cost about $1000 to see if it works.
Bucky is such a fighter and has such a great attitude. He has been t through so much and I don't want to quit on him now.
I want him to have the opportunity to have a loving home, either back with his adopters or with a new home.
Bucky's story:
Just a few weeks after Bucky and his brother Peanut were adopted by my rescue, he was diagnosed with Neurological/Occular FIP. He lost the ability to walk and he became incontinent.
The family reached out to me to let me know they were going to put him to sleep. I was aware of a very effective cure for FIP that required 84 days of large injections that are somewhat painful. They agreed to try.
About 70% of cats survive. The longer the treatment the better their chances. Bucky is on Day 45!
Within days of starting treatment Bucky was able to move around. Within a month he was playing with his brother again.
We are now halfway through treatment and had a HUGE SET BACK. His went blind in one eye and it swelled up with glaucoma. And he's still struggling with incontinence.
At this point the family was not sure they could take anymore.
I arranged to have a vet tech come to the house and give him his FIP injections three days a week to give them a break. This is costing $100 a week - $600.
His eye needs to be removed and he is taking 2 types of pain medications and expensive eye drops to postpone surgery until his further along in his treatment.
The eye removal surgery is going to be about $1,000 with ongoing veterinarian care and medication.
The FIP treatment costs $40 a day and we have at least 45 more days but most likely longer. That's $1,800.
Total cost $3,400.
With a $15 donation you can receive a free "Go Bucky" bracelet. Just submit your receipt here: https://www.facebook.com/QuixotesQuestC4C/.
Despite his many obstacles Bucky is a happy kitten who loves his brother Peanut and his family.
Please help us give him a chance to live.
