Help Buchi Recover From Leptospirosis

I am Jeremy Siegel, a friend of Jun-Wan Tong's. On a typical hike in September, Jun-Wan took his two-year-old dog Buchi along the trail near his home in Hong Kong. He swam in the streams along the trail, an activity he enjoys as a very active dog. Shortly after, Buchi contracted Leptospirosis, a dangerous bacterial disease that spreads through contaminated water, affects the kidneys and the liver and can be fatal in severe cases.

Jun-Wan knew something was wrong with Buchi when he didn’t want to play or eat. He was also lethargic and also started vomiting. Buchi spent nine days in the hospital, two of those on kidney dialysis. While Leptospirosis can be treated with antibiotics, intensive medical treatment may be required if a dog develops kidney failure or liver dysfunction.

Buchi had an acute case and almost died. Fortunately, he's a fighter and got through the worst of it. However, that battle continues with weeks of outpatient care. He’s on five different pills and daily IV fluids. Buchi’s treatment cost HK$392,000 (US$50,000).

Jun-Wan made it a priority in his life to bring his fur baby from the United States to Hong Kong as he had to relocate for work. He spared no expense in ensuring Buchi would have the best quality of life in his new home and is now saddled with an unfortunate and sudden debt due to Buchi's treatment. We aim to recuperate $25,000 to help cover the funds Jun-Wan paid out of pocket. All funds will go towards settling this debt.
