Help Bubbles Receive Treatment

Donation protected
Recently, we have learned that Bubbles has a neurological disease. It has affected her balance and is now affecting her vision, response time, coordination, as well as the ability to control her bladder and bowels. She has also struggled to gain weight. At this time, we are still trying to figure out the source of all this. We have been in and out of the veterinarian for a little over a month now trying to get answers. Thankfully, Bubbles is still eating, drinking, and playing. Her condition does affect her mobility, so she is quite wobbly and unable to jump onto higher surfaces, but as far as we can tell, she is not in pain. After advocating for her consistently, she received a neurology referral to CVETS. Her neurologist is unable to say if she will ever regain her ability to control her bladder or bowels again. Right now, she is on medicines and supplements as we wait to see improvement. Despite all of this, we are hopeful for the best possible outcome. All we want is for Bubbles to be happy, pain-free, and to be able to give her the best life that she can have.

For now and in the future, Bubbles will need to continue to see a specialist. She will need treatment, possibly an MRI under anesthesia, a lumbar puncture, and medication depending on what her blood work shows in the following days. Bubbles also requires around-the-clock care—diaper changes, baths, and cleaning done by myself and my husband since she is incontinent. We love Bubbles as well as her sister Buttercup and just want to be able to continue to provide her with a good quality of life.

9/23/24 bubbles update,

It is not what we wanted. Bubbles has been diagnosed with neurological FIP. It has affected both her brain and spinal cord causing her both urinary and fecal incontinence and affecting her mobility as well. There are treatment options however it is very expensive with low success rates. For just one month of treatment the cost will be $487.50. She will need at least six months of treatment if she makes it that long. At this time Bubbles is still playing. She is eating and drinking. She runs around as if nothing is affecting her- even though her hind legs are severely affected. Although she seems pain free right now this is an aggressive disease and it is so hard to watch her struggle to play and walk. I want to fight for her if we are able to. Unfortunately, we are struggling to get her pet insurance to cover this medication. I did set up a go fund me specifically for her treatment. If anyone is able to donate it is greatly appreciated. I know that this is asking for a lot so just a share of this post would also be appreciated more than anything. Maybe it will land on someone else’s page who can help or knows someone who can. Thank you for reading and please keep Bubbles in your thoughts. We love her so so much and want Buttercup to have her sister as long as she can.

9/26/ 24 bubbles update: bubbles has been started on treatment. We did find a cheaper oral alternative for $100 per month versus the $487.50!! Per her neurologist, so far bubbles has seemed to improve. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far and I will continue to write updates as we go

Treatment Estimate: $600 (for 6 months of oral suspension treatment) Monlupravir we were told she would need to be on the medicine for six months usually

Vet Bill Estimate (to include bloodwork and FIP related diagnostics and procedures): $95 per monthly check up at her neurologist x 5 more visits at minimum and two more rounds of blood work (at least) $200 for blood work panel, per her neurologist she will need at least two more sets of blood work done before the end of treatment — total: $875
